Clyde and Donny are who this story should've been based around!This is a story about Leo and Merrick. Leo got involved in the "Bridge The Gap" program. Something designed by the local LGBTQ+ program, designed to bring the youth of today, together with the heroes of yesterday. Leo befriends Clyde and brings him to a series of classes hosted by Merrick, and his studio, "Kill'n Time."I'm going to get right to the point--especially since you know the synopsis from Amazon, and other reviews. I ADORE N.R. Walker, and own ALL of her books. This is the first time I've seen her accept mistakes. Stupid mistakes, like "I'm wearing Basketball shorts.". Vs. "I pulled off his jeans."Yes, I'm paraphrasing, but my point stands. This book, as it stands, is weak and riddled with mistakes.On a personal note: "Don't be like every other author who is more interested in getting a book out--over the content! How's this, folks: A contemporary romance with restraint--two romances, in fact--with absolutely, positively, no angst between the first chapter and the words "The End."From a master story spinner whose many books range from high adventure to some that contain violence, this is one of the more surprisingly relaxing tours you can get of men (and women) who chug along in life with specific goals and values that are in keeping with their sexual orientations and society as a whole.Leo and Merrick (the latter on the cover) are around 30 years old, both solid in their careers but lonely in their love lives. The exceptional twist here is that Merrick owns a pottery business and Leo shows up as part of an LGBTQ outreach program wherein he tries to get the much older Clyde to become more social.It is the pottery business which is author Walker's focus, and her similes and analogies thereof with the way Leo and Merrick get along and then get involved are wonderful. To say more about that would be a disservice--you have to read it to believe it.My only eyebrow raiser is that the setting is Brisbane, Australia but if it wasn't mentioned more than a few times in the book it could have taken place anywhere in the English speaking world. There are no Aussie idioms or customs put on display here and that keeps it a most accessible book for readers looking for one to smile with from beginning to end.Cheers!
